Minipress is used to treat high blood pressure or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It can also be taken for other purposes as prescribed by your doctor.
Use Minipress according to your doctor’s directions. Follow the directions on the label.
Take Minipress inside while eating or after the meal. If you miss a Minipress dose, you should take it as soon as possible. If this occurred while taking your next dose, skip the missed one and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose at once.
The mechanism of action
Minipress is an alpha-blocker. It works by causing blood vessels and muscles around the urethra (the tube leading from the bladder) to relax. This helps to lower blood pressure and improve urinary symptoms, which is associated with an enlarged prostate (BPH).
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If this occurred while taking your next dose, skip the missed one and take the medicine the next time in the scheduled time. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Keep this medication at room temperature in a tightly closed container, away from heat and light.
DO NOT use Minipress in case:
you are allergic to any Minipress ingredient
Contact your doctor immediately if any of these items concern you.
